Douglas Falls by joerossbach Douglas Falls by joerossbach
Douglas Falls on the North Fork of the Blackwater River, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia.

The red in the rocks is due to iron ore that has leaked from mine wells up stream. It is a reminder of the destruction and enviromental decay that took place (and continues to) in the Appalachian Mountains since the begining of the Industrial Revolution.

Very nice,

I love the contrast between the red rocks and juicy green leaves,

Unique take on the scene with the effects of humanity looking otherwise normal. Probably the least detrimental i'd hope than the current catastrophes going on. :/

Nice composition Joe, I enjoy the contrast between the green in the trees and the red in the rocks. Just right of the fall looks a little soft against the rock and trees, is this just from steam rising from the water? What kinda temperature is it here? Great job man!

Sad... When I went to Copperhill, TN, the amount of environmental destruction was astonishing. Nothing matters but the bottom line. :(

Just beautiful, Joe. You've done well exposing the scene, nice highlights and detail in the shadows :)

So everything you've posted in the last couple of days, I shot over this past weekend as well. Seems as if we were crossing paths all weekend at Blackwater Falls, Dolly Sods, and Douglas Falls! Of course, your results are nothing less than fantastic. Your work is quite an inspiration to a beginner like myself!
