Firework Falls by joerossbach Firework Falls by joerossbach
One of the most colorful sunsets I have photographed in years of shooting in Great Falls National Park happened yesterday during my One Day Workshop. The weather was fowl all day and the storms that rolled through scared the hell out of me, but in the end we were treated to some amazing light!

I don't use color filter my friend. If you spend enough time in nature chasing the light, you will know that light like this does happen. not often though!!

I know you did not use any filter, it's just that your whitebalance is weird and the result is as if there was a filter on the whole pic...
I would adjust the balance and then just adjust the saturation of the sky.
Anyway, if you can't hear critics then don't put pics on deviantart.
I know you're used to everybody treating you like a living photo god and even though it is agreable and glorifiying comments such as "wonderful", "amazing", "you're my god" are not the most useful, are they ? :)

I don't mean to be unpleasant, I'm just telling what I feel when I look at your picture (which is amazing besides what I said earlier)

Remi,

I am not trying to be a dick, so please forgive the reply if it came of that way. I like critiques, but I can also critique the critiquer if that makes any sense. This was shot at a daylight balance, which means that any color cast that occurred is as natural as it would have appeared had it been shot on film. I personally like the cast and feel that it represents my vision and what was happening with the bounce light while I photographed the scene. I am not opposed to critiques, but often times are pretty happy with my images and feel no need to make any changes. I appreciate them none the less!

No worries :) I understand what you say. the moment wheen you took this pic must have been magical in this case.
(after thinking more about it it's maybe the "long" pose that makes the rocks so coloured)
anyway, I'm happy that we finally agree

talk soon

Ohhh I love this picture. The flowing water is so beautiful and it nearly looks like mist that streams through the stones. This and the colors makes the shot dreamy and mystical. I wished I was there too.

Personally, I am quite fond of this composition as i feel the shapes in the sky and the gorge complimant each other quite well. As the far as the color goes, you would have had to have been there to experience for yourself. The entire sky radiated this light and bounced it down into the gorge. In fact, i had pull out some magenta in the nuetral tone using selective color to get to look like this! I appreciate your comments, thank you.

I can understand where you are coming from on the composition actually, I hadnt really seen it that way. I suppose my opinion on the colour balance must be taken with a pinch of salt, given that I wasnt there, but I think it might be more to other peoples liking if it was toned down a little?

Personally I feel the colour cast in this is just a little too strong. I understand that natural lighting can be like this, but I find it hard to accept tot hat extent, at least I think my eyes would have adjusted a little. Personally I also find the composition a little flat, it lacks the dynamism of some of your other work.
